樸門永續設計的分區

這是網路上 (from http://www.kusamala.org/about-us/permaculture-agroecology/) 看到的一種樸門永續設計的分區方法

ZONE 1 – INTENSIVE(第一區-密集種植)

The bio-intensive garden that produces the majority of household vegetable needs. Small fruit species and quiet animals live here too. Commercial vegetable gardens are Zone 1 systems because they are energy intensive. This area is irrigated.
這一區是生態密集生產家庭主要蔬菜的花園,小型水果以及比較安靜的家畜也會養在這裡。商業性的蔬菜農園便是一個第一區的系統,因為它得能源密集。這個區域需要灌溉。

ZONE 2 – ‘MEMO’(第二區-備忘區)

Orchards, food forests, poultry, some staple crops, bees and other less intensive elements that require less frequent management than Zone 1, but still requires several visits per week. This area is irrigated as necessary.
果樹、食物森林、家禽以及一些主要的榖物、蜜蜂和需要比第一區較少照顧且不密集的元素,但是一週仍要造訪數次。這地區需要的時候也要澆水。

ZONE 3 – STAPLE PRODUCTION(第三區-主要生產區)

This area is not irrigated but rain-fed. It is the place for field crops (household and commercial production). Natural fertilizers and productive trees are integrated, along with larger animals, into an alley-cropping, permanent bed systems. Zone 3 only requires occasional visits.
這個區域不需要澆水,但是要雨水。這個區域種植面積廣闊的榖物。天然肥料、生產的樹木,加上一些大型的動物整合在一起。第三區需要偶而的拜訪。

ZONE 4 – WOODLOTS(第四區-造林地)

This is a semi-wild area used for woodlots (fuelwood, building supplies, timber), foraging and fodder production. Larger animals could be put to pasture in Zone 4. It is rarely visited and, after establishment, requires little to no management.
這是一個半野外的地區,主要用來造林(燃料木材、建築用才、木料),種植或蒐集飼料的地方。大型動物也可以放牧在第四區的草原。這個地區只需要很少的造訪,建立之後,只需要一點點甚至不需要管理。

ZONE 5 – NATURE(第五區-自然)

Wilderness – nature as the ultimate teacher. There is no human intervention in Zone 5 apart from the observation of ecological processes. Here, we are visitors not managers; it is “where we learn the rules that we try to apply elsewhere” (Bill Mollison).
野外-自然是終極的老師。第五區除了觀察生態的變化過程,不要有任何人的干預。在這裡,我們只是訪客,不是管理者。「我們在這裡學習一些可以用在其他地方(區)的規則。」(Bill Mollison 樸門永續設計創辦人)

(譯註:在台灣西部,很少人擁有足夠寬廣的地,可以設置第四、第五區,不過,你可以把附近一些公有土地,或者河川地當做是這樣的區域。不過,要注意在進入,或是擷取資源的時候,要尊重生態,並且不要觸犯相關法規。)
