Assalamualaikum

2015-08-04 我在印尼 Aceh 的 Takengon Gayo。

那天上午我經歷了一場盛大的歡迎儀式。我想我一輩子很難忘記這群印尼年輕少年、少女的傳統舞姿,看著她們的臉龐,我想起過去在聚落的原住民舞蹈,還有曾經照顧兩年的小妹妹。

開幕儀式上,我給了很短的一個致詞,這裡第一中學的學生都不需要翻譯,他們知道我在講什麼,我很感激他們省去翻譯的麻煩。這群穆斯林的子民,有著一種很奇特的氣質,當你遠遠的看,或者是在台灣接觸他們,你絕對感受不到那種尊貴與美麗,只有當他們在他們自己的土地上,在自己打造的城鎮與家園之間,那種自在、柔美、和平的氣質便展現無遺。我想這在世界上,每個人在自己安身立命的土地上,都會如此。

不過,今天有一個意外的神聖功課,我學習到一個伊斯蘭祝福平安的問候語「Assalamu Alaikum(發音接近:阿斯拉穆-阿拉伊棍)」。練習的過程,我稍稍領略到了過去先知教導民眾的適切與準確:當我重複練習這個問候語的時候,心中竟浮起了平安與感動!

以下是我的簡單 opening talk:

Assalamualaikum, Selamat pagi (早安)

Ladies and gentlemen,

I am very happy to be here to meet with you. This is the second visit of NCTU Indonesia International Volunteer Group. We look forward to this visit to Takengon of Ache, the hometown of coffee for a long time.

Today, my students and I come here, nothing more than wanting to re-know the culture of coffee, and to experience the real breath of life behind the rich aroma.

People in the world, drinking coffee every day, but how many consumers who are lucky enough could see land growing the bean and the pretty faces of farmers taking care of them in person?

We are even more pleased to have the opportunity to learn together with HMI’s young people. We will share with you many stories in Taiwan, including Taiwan’s people and culture, how we enjoy coffee from Indonesia, as well as the experience of many Taiwan people’s effort in the countryside. Also we expect to listen to your stories and experiences.

We’ll here for whole week to experience a period of unusual life, thank you for having such a beautiful dance to welcome us and provide us with such a comfortable working place, thanks to our officers here with us, thank HMI’s young friends.
